Overview

Jammu's Mini Gulmarg

In the Chenab Valley Himalayas, Sanasar is a scenic and peaceful Jammu hill destination with green meadows, conifer forests, outdoor adventure, and mountain views. Its name comes from the nearby Sana and Sar villages, and the large cup-shaped meadow framed by tall pines gives it a distinct Himalayan setting.

Called “Mini Gulmarg of Jammu,” it is loved for paragliding, trekking, camping, climbing, horse rides, and walks. Fresh air, panoramas, and relaxed surroundings suit families, couples, photographers, and adventure seekers.

History

Sanasar was traditionally a quiet settlement among forest and grazing land, where communities preserved their local culture and connection to the Himalayas. Nearby Shankh Pal Temple, on its ridge and dedicated to Nag Shankh Pal, is an old religious trekking destination.

Natural terrain and meadows gradually made Sanasar an adventure tourism hub; it is now one of Jammu & Kashmir's notable offbeat hills.
