History

The pass of Peer Baba

Peer Ki Gali takes its name from Sheikh Ahmad Karim (Peer Baba), who is believed to have meditated here. A small shrine at the pass is visited by travellers seeking blessings for a safe journey.

The pass lies on Mughal Road, used by emperors including Jahangir when travelling between Delhi, Lahore, and Kashmir. The revived highway remains an important scenic connection between Pir Panjal and Kashmir Valley.
