Overview
A peaceful hidden valley of Poonch
Located in Poonch's Pir Panjal mountains, Loran Valley is a peaceful, lesser-known destination of high mountains, green forest, flowing streams, and traditional villages. Near Mughal Road, it offers an untouched Himalayan experience away from crowded tourist places.
The Loran River, green meadows, pine and deodar forest, snow-covered winter peaks, and quiet village life suit nature lovers, photographers, adventurers, and offbeat travel. Historically it was an important mountain route linking Poonch and Kashmir.
History
Loran was traditionally connected with trade and travel between Poonch and Kashmir through Pir Panjal high-altitude routes. Mughal emperors used the nearby historic Mughal Road while travelling between the plains and Kashmir.
The valley preserves Pahari and Gujjar heritage in local architecture, agriculture, cultural practices, and mountain life.
